Rue, a hardy, evergreen, somewhat shrubby plant, is a native of Southern Europe. The greenish-yellow flowers are in terminal panicles, blossoming from June to September. One of the most striking features of this plant is indeed the strong, aromatic, bitter or acrid scent, but once you get used to it, it can be very soothing and comforting.
